Dahi Vada, Doi Bora

Dahi Vada popular north Indian dish. It’s a hit at parties, and is a part of almost every ceremony. Fresh Dahi Vada is  easy to digest.


Serving Size: 2

Cooking Time: 45 mins

Ingredients :

  1. 2 cups Urad dal
  2. A pinch of Salt
  3. A pinch of Baking Powder
  4. Dahi
  5. A pinch of Sugar
  6. Tamarind
  7. Black Peeper
  8. 1tbsp Cumin Seeds
  9. Red Chilly Powder
  10. Salt
  11. 3 tbsp Sugar

Cooking procedure:

Clean, wash and soak the dal for 6hrs.

Prepare a paste of urad dal with salt and baking powder.Grind it into smooth paste.

Heat oil in a pan and drop a spoonfuls of batter and fry till golden brown.

Take the hot vadas and put in hot water for 2-3 minutes.

Now take them out of water and squeeze the water and keep aside.

Blend the curd (yogurt) and little water until it is smooth.Add salt and sugar.

For chutney:- add  water to tamarind  and cook for 10 minutes in micro oven .Take out the pulp . Add chilly powder, roasted cumin powder, salt, garam masala, black peeper powder, sugar and mix well.

Soak the Vada in Curd .

Sprinkle roasted cumin powder and red chili powder.

Garnish with chutney and coriander leaf. Serve the dahi vadas chilled.
